Call for Plenary Session and Workshop Proposals

The GMDI Conference Committee is excited to announce the call for proposals for plenary sessions and workshops at the 2026 GMDI Conference in St. Louis, MO, April 22-25.  This represents a professional development opportunity to share your experience and expertise with colleagues at the 2026 GMDI Conference.

Please consider the requirements below in preparing your proposal. Please indicate if your proposal can be considered as a plenary session, workshop, or both:

  • All presentations must be educational in nature and not include any sales or marketing information.  Speakers are encouraged to prepare and present original and/or evidence-based material.
  • A variety of topic areas including, but not limited to, research findings, clinical applications, patient education or advocacy, and professional issues will be considered.  Workshops may include interactive activities (e.g., small group discussions, role plays)
  • Conference Planners are looking forward to all proposals. Certain topics are of particular interest, including:
    • Harnessing technology to enhance metabolic care and outcomes (e.g., AI, apps, diet record image recognition, point-of-care monitoring)
    • Maximizing the potential of current therapies (e.g., medical nutrition therapy, medical foods, pharmacologic options)
    • Understanding emerging therapies and their implications - impact on medical nutrition therapy and the evolving role of the dietitian)
    • Building resilience in an evolving field
    • Behavior modification strategies
    • Maintaining compassion and reframing paradigms in care (e.g., role of language, inclusive messaging)
    • Fostering collaborative partnerships (e.g., with advocacy groups, regulatory bodies, industry, clinical research)
    • Clinical practice issues in IEM care
    • Highlighting the role of dietitians in research
    • Updates from previous GMDI sessions

All proposals will be carefully evaluated by the conference Co-Chairs and committee.  A limited number of proposals will be selected for presentation at the 2026 Conference.  The goal of the planning committee is to create an educational experience that is highly relevant, engaging, and responsive to the current needs of attendees.
