Introduction
The GMDI Board of Directors, Past Presidents and Founding Members met in April 2016 for a facilitated Strategic Planning Session. Prior to the meeting surveys were developed for GMDI leaders, members, and stakeholders. Survey participation was invited of three groups of the GMDI organization:
- Leadership survey: board of directors, founders, past presidents
- Membership Survey: random sample of registered members
- Stakeholder Survey: GMDI affiliate non-member representatives were invited to participate.
Items requested leadership responses to the following areas of the organization: mission, impact, trends, roles, areas of uncertainty, areas of change, strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, threats, and critical issues. In addition to these items, the membership survey also requested input on barriers and incentives to organizational participation, and on use and satisfaction with resources provided by GMDI to members. Responses to these surveys were used as the basis to develop the 2016-2019 GMDI Strategic Plan.
